They are personal favourites, and also represent articles of interest to other

'Devonshire Cream'.

In the temperate airs and clear waters of Kingsbridge Estuary, one racing class reigns supreme. Patrick McKenna takes his hat off to a pretty West Country lass - the Salcombe Yawl - and meets a man who has long courted her.

Ten years ago Classic Boat published an article about a Camper & Nicholson Victorian cutter part-way through a remarkable restoration. Last summer the boat set sail again for the first time in eighty years. Owner Alex Liard explains what happened in between. For ten years Brixham trawler Lorne Leader plied her trade in cold northern waters. Current owner Struan Cooper tells how he took her back to where her life began on the River Dart 100 years ago. Additional archive, restoration photography and words available from Struan, contact Tom Benn.

Jo Moran's just finished building a 20-foot epoxy ply pocket cruiser to her own design. Unusual? Derek Toyne went to Falmouth to find out for himself.

'Chasing Sunbeams'.

When a family escapes the rat race to chase a rainbow, there's usually something good at the end of it. For the Graffys it was a Cornish boatyard and building a Sunbeam. Derek Toyne basks in reflected glory.

Colour transparencies available include: boat to boat sailing photography with close up action of the crew and the boat crashing through a choppy sea. A new Sunbeam is now under construction - in build shots would be available or get a new perspective using Tom's radio controlled camera for mast mounted camera action.

Brixham Heritage Festival
